Another great visit to Jane's Mattes. We went as a family of 3 all adults. We had reserved a table and was quickly taken to it, menus passed to us and our drink order taken. Very quick, friendly and attentive service all through the time we were there. Drinks came pretty soon, then we ordered our food. I ordered the 3 course surprise menu and my wife and daughter ordered from the card. The card menu also has a starter, salad and dessert included. Plus we had an amuse bouce from the chef. The food was excellent. It costs more than most restaurants, but you definitely get your money's worth.

We were guests there last Sunday afternoon. Since we always like to try something new and have never eaten there before, we were very excited about what to expect based on the reports. Since we don't have much time, it's important to us to eat well, sometimes something special and, above all, in a nice atmosphere and good service - we don't look at the price because we treat ourselves to this. On the positive side: The food was very tasty - the portions were ok for us, but good eaters would still have been hungry (but we said that was ok for us and it should be quality instead of quantity) The atmosphere is rustic and cozy. The service was the big minus point. Sure, there is a shortage of staff - everywhere, unfortunately - but that shouldn't be at the expense of the guests. Few staff - so you should adjust the number of guests in order to be able to offer them good service. What happened: We were brought to the table. A little later we asked what drink we wanted - so far everything was good. Drinks came - but we still didn't get a menu at this point - this came upon request. Another waitress took everything (menus with starter and dessert) - bread with butter and some starter soups were already being served all around... after almost 50 minutes we asked the waitress why we didn't have any bread yet - she was surprised and said - We have divided the tables - have you ordered yet? - she was shocked when she found out that we had already done that to her and apologized - bread came. Then the starter. Vitello tonnato for me, my wife got soup - both very, very tasty. I gave up my cutlery because I didn't really want tuna cream on my meat. Next came the salad for my wife - was there none with my dish? - no idea. The used salad plate then remained on the table along with the bread bowl and butter. Until the main course came (some time later - but no matter, we had time) the waitress noticed that main courses and empty, used plates don't fit together on the table. It should also be mentioned that in the 40 minutes between the two meals, both waiters scurried "empty" through the aisles and skilfully overlooked the dishes being used (was it the table layout again?) - well, somehow the main course came to the table - again very, very tasty - only I didn't have any cutlery left - this was then handed out when asked (just like I put a knife and fork in my wife's hand - so really pressed in her hand) Unfortunately there didn't seem to be a steak knife to use with the venison saddle steak cutting - no matter, I was happy to be able to eat at all. Then after everything had been eaten - the question came: would you like another dessert? - that's in the menu, we reminded the lady who then smiled and said - well, you don't know It's a shame, it could have been a nice experience - the food is really very good, but the service in many other restaurants is worlds better and after all you want to escape from everyday life and not be annoyed afterwards and have your Sunday ruined because you spent 3 hours experienced things that weren't worth it Maybe this criticism will be read and acted upon?
